Interesting picture. ..The cranes seem to be very old.
@linaprim: do you know what kind of Weitz crane is that?

K-25000 – The Optimum Crane To Meet The Heavy Lift Requirements Of The Next Decade
For more than 50 years Krøll Cranes A/S has constantly developed new ways in crane construction. In 1977 we did the impossible by manufacturing the world’s largest tower crane with a capacity of 10000 ton-metre – the K10000. Fifteen of these cranes have now been sold. Based on these achievements we once again have broken all records in crane construction and designed a new tower crane with a lifting capacity of 400 tons. This crane is capable of handling the heaviest equipment and modules on many big construction projects e.g. nuclear power plants.

The new giant crane from Krøll – the K25000 – with a capacity of 25000 ton-metre has been developed to achieve major reductions in site construction time. This is based on the following three key features:

modularisation;
‘open top’ construction; and
flexible Logistics.
The degree of modularisation can be increased and, hence, the number of heavy lifts will also increase, minimising the number of single lifts and the congestion inside the building. All main components are installed in the building through the ‘Open Top’ construction by means of the K25000.

Placement of loads on site is infinitely flexible due to the large working area achieved by the long reach and movement of the crane with full load.

The K25000 is available in a static and rail mounted version. On a rail going portal-base components up to 7m heigh can be placed under the portal and the working area is radically increased. Furthermore the main crane is fitted with a top mounted auxiliary crane that can work independently at any heavy lift operation. The maximum load capacity is 400 tons at 57m and the overall lifting capacity is 200 tons at a maximum reach of 100m.

The K25000 can be delivered with a maximum hook height of 100m, allowing smaller cranes to work underneath it with no risk of collision. All crane operations can be carried out in wind speeds of up to 20m/second. Out of operation the crane can stand wind speeds of up to 42m/second in standard version.

For the erection of the K25000 only a small capacity mobile crane is required for a very short time. The total assembly time has been considerably reduced due to a more simple construction and jib assembly procedure. As the auxiliary crane is installed during the first stage of the erection, this crane takes over all lifts during the remaining assembly and erection operation.

The K25000 is then telescoped to its full height. It is remarkable that the heaviest part to be erected of this giant crane is only 30 tons.

In summary, what makes the K25000 the optimum crane equipment for any large construction work is:

considerable savings in construction times and costs;
minimum maintenance;
no risks of collisions between jibs;
no interference with constructions activities;
unlimited storage locations;
simplified transport to site;
optimum possibilities for prefabrication of larger assemblies, on or off sites;
maximum degree of component modularisation;
simple and fast change-over from one lifting mode to another;
minimised deflection of crane during lifting operations;
increased accuracy of load placement;
the highest degree of safety is achieved by compliance with international recognised codes for crane design; and
twenty years of experience of producing the world’s largest tower cranes

What that means? The components up to seven meters are placed under the base of the crane(the bogies are replaced) and the crane become statical or those components are placed on the base under the tower , the crane beeing still mobile? bearbeitet von djlivus

That means that you can assemble or store something lower than a 7m between the rails.
