So if a mast configuration is suitable for a freestanding static height, I think the same height could be attained in most of the cases for a rail mounted tower, if is provided a big enough base. For some cranes, it's true the HUH for static version is much bigger- for instance richier gT-1425 is 75 m tall in static version, and 65 mobile. But the gauge of the rail is only 6 meters. I think the things would have been different if they provided a base of about 10m or so. What do you think ?

In case when the crane is rail mounted there is an additional tilting moment because of braking and accelerating (beside tilting moments caused by load and wind). Of course in both cases, traveling base or fixed base, you must compare bases with equal characteristics (width, ballast).
